The shooter called 911 immediately and told the operator what he had done.
‘I had to shot two persons right here,’ he said first. He then said he ‘needed’ police and said: ‘I shoot two persons. They are with me here.’
He then told the operator he had put his gun on the ground.
Asked if they were dead, the shooter said: ‘I can’t see because they, it’s dark… They’re on the floor in the garage.’
A car was towed from the house but it is unclear if was owned by the boys.
An Ohio homeowner has shot dead two teenage boys who he says were ‘trespassing’ on his property on Wednesday night.
The homeowner has not been named but is being questioned.
He told police that on Wednesday at 9.30pm, he shot the two boys in his ‘garage’. He called 911 afterwards.
The boys have been identified as 17-year-olds Devon Henderson and Javier Harrison. It remains unclear if they were trying to break into the property, or what their motive for being there was.
When the homeowner called 911, he told the operator: ‘I shot two guys. I shot two persons (who) tried to rob… to do something in my house.’
Dayton Daily News, a local outlet, says one of the teenagers’ father’s believed they knew the shooter and had been in the garage before.

Javier’s father Jimmy said he should not have fired his weapon because the teens were in his garage and not his house.
‘It wasn’t in your house, it was in your garage.
‘That’s like 10 feet away from your house, you know so that means you’re seeing some perps out there at your garage, you know, so my first instinct is to call the police,’ he said.
This was the scene outside the property where the shooting happened in Dayton, Ohio, on Wednesday night after an unidentified homeowner shot dead two 17-year-old boys
There were a number of police cars at the scene but officers refused to share details of the shooting
According to local media, friends and family of the boys flocked to the scene on Wednesday night and cried as they waited for confirmation of the boys’ identities.
Devon and Javier’s older brothers took to social media on Thursday to share their grief and disbelief that they had both been killed.
They are now asking for donations to help pay for their funeral expenses.
It is unclear if the boys were enrolled in school or whether they had weapons when the homeowner encountered them.
The street where the shooting took place is sparse, with only a few houses.
It is surrounded by churches and a train line runs through it.
Police will not release any additional information but say the homeowner is being cooperative.
