Katie Hopkins, the British media personality who is fond of mocking Meghan Markle (read here) has transferred the mockery to Nigerians and it was brutal.
Nigerians immediately went after her
Yesterday’s fire incident in Balogun market saw a security guard using a bucket to scoop water and try to quench the fire with it.
A video showing the security guard’s futile effort went viral and Katie Hopkins reshared it with a caption that shames Nigeria.
She wrote: “Next time you want to criticise our fantastic British firefighters, be glad you aren’t Nigeria.”
Any sane human anywhere in the world will never identify this patriot as a Firefighter officer. I hope the #FakeNews promoters that have allowed bitterness and hatred to defeat their criticism thinking are seeing the stigma they keep bringing on this country's image.— TallJohn🌍 (@JohnFanimokun) November 6, 2019
Dont allow 200 million Nigerians drag u online. We might have our issues like u Brits have. Face ur issues and let us be. That guy is not a firefighter and if this occurred in urs all u guys will say he is a hero— Sole (@sole0907) November 6, 2019
At least this man is putting his whole heart into it. He has no protection but he is trying his best to take on the fire.— Emil (@Emil34806740) November 6, 2019
I am sure that Nigerian firefighters wouldn't tell people to stay put in a burning building.
I respect firefighters from all countries.
Next time you want to tweet to mock other people be glad you aren't Katie Hopkins you know why bcos she's suffering from a MDD (Major Depressive Disorder).— Kennies (@tmade_twin) November 6, 2019
A common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. #SorryKatie
Why didn't your fantastic British firefighters safe those 72 lives at Grenfell tower,my condolences to the family.— Shopeyin Ibrahim (@benzin07) November 6, 2019
Instead of you to use your tweet positively to put pressure on our government. It's really not your fault Katie but our leaders who have sold us out the world.
The official report suggest that the London Fire Brigade was very incompetent per handling of the fire outbreak in the 24-storey Grenfell Tower. They got there late and told occupants to stay put inside the building. If anyone will shame Nigeria, it certainly cannot be you.— Dr. Dípò Awójídé (@OgbeniDipo) November 6, 2019
