Former BBC and Channel 4 journalist and news presenter Tazeen Ahmad has died at the age of 48.

Ahmad, who worked for BBC News, Channel 4 Dispatches and as a foreign correspondent for NBC News, passed away on Wednesday after battling cancer.

Her brothers announced the sad news in a statement, saying she was ‘surrounded by her close friends and family’ as she passed away.

Tributes have poured in for the mother-of-two, with The Asian Media Awards saying she was ‘one of the most gifted journalists of her generation’ and the BBC’s Rajini Vaidyanathan saying she was ‘deeply saddened’ by the news.
